Nintendo Game Packs are licensed packs of collectible cards that were released by Topps in 1989. Each unopened pack has three scratch-off cards and two tip cards, which are packaged inside wax paper. The packaging depicted either Mario, Princess Toadstool, or Link. The entire set of Nintendo Game Pack cards consists of 60 scratch-off game cards and 33 tip cards. The scratch-off games are based on either of the six Nintendo Entertainment System games: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Punch-Out!!, and Double Dragon.

There are ten scratch-off game cards per game, 20 of which pertain to either of the first two Super Mario Bros. games. Each card shows artwork based on a scene from the game and circles that can be scratched. Instructions are on the other side of the card.

Each tip card has one gameplay tip for a Nintendo Entertainment System game. One or a few stickers are on the other side of each card. Like the scratch-off game cards, the stickers also pertain to one of the six Nintendo Entertainment System games.

Super Mario Bros.
Screen Card Description
1 of 10 Mario must jump over a pit and stomp three Goombas (although only two are depicted on the card). If the player scratches a right arrow (for crossing the gap) and three squished Goombas, they win. If three whole Goombas are scratched, the player loses.
2 of 10 Mario must jump over two gaps, which each have a Spiny in them. The player wins if they scratch three right arrows but lose if they scratch three pictures which say "Ouch!".
3 of 10 Mario must swim by a Blooper. The player wins if they scratch three right arrows, but they lose if they scratch three Bloopers.
4 of 10 The card depicts Mario shooting a fireball at a Koopa Paratroopa (named "Koopa Paratrooper" on the card instructions) in an underground area. The player wins if they scratch three right arrows but lose if they scratch three Koopa Paratroopers.
5 of 10 The card depicts Mario moving toward a Buzzy Beetle in an underground area. The player wins if they scratch three right arrows but lose if they scratch three Buzzy Beetles.
6 of 10 The card is based on World 1-2. It depicts Mario standing on a pipe next to a Piranha Flower (misspelled "Pirahna Flower" in the instructions). The player wins if they scratch a right arrow and a "secret world" but lose if they scratch three Piranha Flowers.
7 of 10 The card depicts Mario in an underground area next to two blocks and a Bullet Bill above. The player must scratch a right arrow to have Mario advance to the second area (the rightmost side of the card), and scratch another right arrow to win. If the player scratches a circle with the word "DUCK!", they must try again. If the player scratches three Bullet Bills, they lose.
8 of 10 The card is loosely based on World 2-3 and shows a Cheep Cheep flying at Mario from under the bridge. The player must scratch two right arrows to move across the bridge. If the player scratches three Cheep Cheeps, they lose.
9 of 10 The card shows Mario approaching a red Koopa Troopa. If the player scratches a right arrow, Mario advances to the second area, which is the rightmost side with a Pipe. If the player scratches an up arrow, they win. If the player scratches three Koopa Troopas or one Koopa Shell, they lose.
10 of 10 The card shows Mario's encounter with Bowser. The player must scratch the first area (the left side of the card) until they find a right arrow for Mario to continue to the second area (the right set of circles behind Bowser). To win, the player must scratch a right arrow and two levers. If the player scratches three fireballs, they lose.
Super Mario Bros. 2
1 of 10 The scene is based on the start of World 1-2, as it shows Mario jumping from hills to get to a Pidgit. The player wins if they scratch a right arrow for Mario to get to Pidgit, then scratch a picture that reads "GRAB!" for Mario to grab the Pidgit, and then a picture that reads "TOSS" for Mario to throw the Pidgit. The player loses if they scratch three circles which show a picture saying "FALL".
2 of 10 The scene shows Mario in an enclosed area with an Autobomb. The player wins if they scratch off one right arrow, three "GRAB!" pictures, and three "THROW" pictures. The player loses if they scratch three cannonballs.
3 of 10 The scene shows the end of World 2-3 during the boss fight against Tryclyde. The player wins if they scratch off one right arrow, three super mushrooms, and three pictures of the word "TOSS". If the player scratches three fireballs, they lose.

In Super Mario Bros. 2, Tryclyde is defeated the same way, if the player's character throws three mushrooms at him.

4 of 10 The scene shows Mario in a jar area with a Spark. Despite this, the objective is different. Mario has to grab a key and escape from Phanto. The player wins if they scratch one right arrow and one key, but they lose if they scratch three Phantos.
5 of 10 The scene shows two logs going down a waterfall, similar to World 1-1. The player wins if they scratch three right arrows but lose if they scratch three pictures which say "MISS!".
6 of 10 The scene shows Mario against Birdo, who is spitting eggs to the left. The player wins if they scratch three eggs, a right arrow to advance to the right side, and a "BONK!" (which is on the right side of the card). The player loses if they scratch three pictures which say "Ouch!".

In Super Mario Bros. 2, the player's character can also defeat Birdo by throwing three eggs at her.

7 of 10 The scene shows Mario standing at a log spanning between two hills. There are three turnip leaves sticking out the log and a Shy Guy on the other side. The player wins if they scratch a turnip, a right arrow (to move to the second area with Shy Guy), and a picture of "TOSS" (indicating that Mario threw the vegetable at Shy Guy). The player loses if they scratch three pictures of Shy Guy.
8 of 10 The scene shows Mario in a boss battle against Mouser, who threw a bomb at him. The player wins if they scratch a right arrow (to advance to the second area with Mouser), three grabs and three bombs. The player loses if they scratch three pictures of "BOOM", which indicate that Mario missed throwing the bombs at Mouser.

In Super Mario Bros. 2, the player's character can also defeat Mouser by throwing three bombs at him.

9 of 10 The scene shows Mario in a desert area with a Panser, who is throwing fireballs at him. The player wins if they scratch three Shy Guys and a right arrow. The player loses if they scratch three fireballs.
10 of 10 The scene shows Mario approaching a Cobrat in a jar, and Princess Toadstool is on the right side, behind Cobrat. The player wins if they scratch a right arrow, two tosses, and a pair of lips (which represents Princess Toadstool kissing Mario).
