Pit is a young angel who first appeared in the game Kid Icarus. He will soon appear as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit is the leader of Palutena's bodyguard army, which consists of Centurions.

Super Smash Bros. Series

Pit was originally supposed to be in the original Super Smash Bros., but was replaced by Jigglypuff, in order to get more sales (Jigglypuff is from a much more popular series than Pit). He then made a cameo as a collectible Trophy is Super Smash Bros. Melee.

He will finally become playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit will be able to shoot light arrows that can be slightly directed, and will also be able to break his sacred bow of Palutena into two blades for some up close combat. He is shown to be able to jump multiple times like Kirby or Meta Knight, and to glide. Pit will be voiced by Minami Takayama. Pit flies down to the stage on a light from heaven as his battle entrance.

In the Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pit apparently joins the story early in the game. He sees the devastation of the Subspace Army's Subspace Bomb, and is sent by Palutena to go assist the other heroes in defeating the Subspace Army. He hurries down to the world, so he can help the other defeat the Subspace Army. He lands on a spot near the Halberd, and has to fight Primid that are appearing. He also finds Mario, transformed into a trophy. He awakens him and the two team up.

Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Melee

The head of Palutena's personal bodyguards, Pit traveled near and far to gather Three Sacred Treasures that would help him defeat the evil goddess of darkness, Medusa, and free Palutena, the goddess of light. Pit couldn't fly with his little wings; only the Wings of Pegasus let him take flight. Will Pit ever fight again?

Trivia

  • Pit appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a trophy, where it asked if Pit would ever fight again. It is said this was a hint to his playable appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, though this is debatable, as Brawl did not begin development until four years after Melee's release.
  • Pit made a cameo appearance in one of 9-Volt's games in WarioWare: Twisted! where the player had tilt the GBA to move Pit away from enemies the eggplant wizards would throw at him.
  • Pit also appears in one of the orchestrated Microgames in WarioWare: Smooth Moves; he plays a cello.
  • Pit's appearance in Brawl has been incredibly altered from his original design. Nintendo states this as "a huge leap in Pit's evolution".
