In the Subspace Emissary, Wolf doesn't play a major role and does not interact with other video game characters, but can join the player's party after beating Tabuu, along with Jigglypuff and Toon Link. The player must enter a special Red Door in The Ruins stage, which will take them to Lylat Cruise. The player sees Wolf flying his Wolfen. He then jumps off the Wolfen, and lands on the cruise. Wolf strikes a pose and then rushes at the player attacking him or her. The player must then defeat Wolf in a one-life stock battle. After defeat, he joins the party. (Although Wolf is never in a cutscene that shows both him and another character, he does seem to stare at the person who challenges him.)

Blaster is the standard special move that Wolf O'Donnell uses in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It works differently compared to Fox's and Falco's Blasters. It has a protruding claw, which can hurt opponents upon withdrawal, if close enough. With Wolf's shots, the closer the beam hits another player, the higher the damage. In Japan, the move is called クローブラスター, Claw Blaster.

Wolf Flash is the side special move of Wolf O'Donnell in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's similar to Fox's Fox Illusion and Falco's Falco Phantasm, however, the difference is that Wolf goes slightly farther than Fox or Falco's. This move also sends Wolf diagonally upwards, while the Fox Illusion/Falco Phantasm goes straight. It is also a Meteor Smash, proving useful in knocking players down into a pit while trying to recover. The move is fairly effective as a recovery move.

Reflector is a move used by Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell in the Super Smash Bros. series. It is done by pressing down on the Control Stick, and pressing B at the same time. Once done, Wolf will use a deflector shield, which can last for a limited time. It is only useful once the attack starts, and will not do anything if it is kept out too long. Reflector can be used to deflect projectile weapons back at the opponent, or it can be used to hurt the foe head on. In order to do that, the player must be very close to the opponent, and then activate the attack. This will send the foe flying slightly in one direction, but it doesn't have enough power for an instant KO. It is more efficient when Wolf jumps over the opponent, and activate it upon landing.

Landmaster is the Final Smash of Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell in the game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Next to the Arwing, the Landmaster Tank is the most powerful weapon the Star Fox team has in the Star Fox series. When one of them collects the Smash Ball, the Landmaster Tank will appear, and they will hop inside it. Opposing players can jump on top of it, but this can be a bad move, as they can roll them off the tank. The jump button allows the Landmaster Tank to hover, tilting the control stick downwards causes it to roll around once, which can get players off the tank, and damage them severely, and the attack button fires the very powerful cannon, which can cause massive damage to players hit, possibly an instant KO. If a player is standing on the cannon while it is being blasted, the player will be blasted also. The tank is indestructible, but it is very difficult to turn the tank around; the player must flick the controller stick, to turn it, which is actually rather slow.

Wolf O'Donnell, Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Wolf O'Donnell is the longtime rival of Fox McCloud, who also made a short cameo in the beginning intro of Super Smash Bros. Melee. Wolf is seen in a space dogfight with Fox, in the intro. He is leader of the Star Wolf team.

History

Super Smash Bros. series

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

File:Wolf in SSBM.jpg
Wolf's cameo appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Wolf is one of the unlockable characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He is both the biggest and heaviest of the Star Fox crew, although his low, feral, fighting stance may cause one to feel otherwise. He may not be as fast as Fox and Falco, but he does pack a big boost in power that makes up for this disadvantage. Of course, his aerial speed is better than that of Fox's and Falco's.

Though his special moves are based on the basic design of Fox's special moves, they have been changed dramatically, with new effects for all of them. All his standard moves are different, as well. His Final Smash is the Landmaster, his version having more firepower and sports Wolfen coloration.

The Subspace Emissary
File:Wolf Subspace Emissary.jpg
Wolf in the Subspace Emissary.

Special Moves

Blaster

File:Wolfblaster2.jpg
Wolf's Blaster.

Wolf Flash

File:Wolf Flash Brawl.jpg
Wolf's Wolf Flash.

Fire Wolf

File:Wolf Fire Wolf.jpg
Wolf's Fire Wolf.

Fire Wolf is Wolf's Up Special move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It goes farther than Fire Fox or Fire Bird and it takes less time to charge, but does not have the fire effects. If Wolf uses this as a battle move, he will get several combos, with a kick at the end, which is stronger than the combo kicks.

Reflector

File:WolfReflector.jpg
Wolf's Reflector.

Unlike Fox's Reflector, however, Wolf's Reflector works more like Marth's Counter, or Lucario's Double Team. It has a wider range and can also double the speed of a reflected projectile.

Landmaster

Template:LLquote

File:WolfLandmaster2.jpg
Wolf's Landmaster.

Wolf's Landmaster is similar to Fox's or Falco's, but his has noticeable differences. First, it has the colors of his Wolfen. Second, its lasers are more powerful and are shot out faster. For the final difference, his is the fastest, but stays around shorter as a result.

Oddly enough, Wolf never used a Landmaster in the Star Fox series.

Smash Taunt

By doing a split-second down taunt, Wolf will start a Conversation with his team members.

Solid Snake Codec Conversation

 • Snake: Colonel, there's a guy in here who looks like a wolf...
 • Colonel: You mean the fighter named Wolf.
 • Snake: "Wolf". Real imaginative name...
 • Colonel: He's the leader of a ragtag team called "Star Wolf". They're the longtime rivals of Star Fox.
 • Snake: Kind of strange for a wolf to have friends, isn't it?
 • Colonel: Well, I don't think he works well with others. I suppose they're more like hangers-on than actual comrades. But he's a remarkable pilot. And his ship, the "Wolfen", is no slouch, either.
 • Snake: But this is hand-to-hand combat, Colonel. He's out of his element.
 • Colonel: Careful, Snake. Those claws of his aren't just for show.

Trivia

 • Wolf's speed is only around average in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but ironically, in Star Fox Assault, Wolf is the fastest playable character in the game.Template:Fact
 • Snake states that it's odd for Wolf to have friends, but in fact, wolves always hunt in packs and are very social animals.
