Articuno is an Ice/Flying-type Pokémon that first appeared in Pokémon Red and Blue. Alongside Zapdos and Moltres, it is one of the three Legendary birds. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, it can be summoned from a Poké Ball and attacks by using Icy Wind, which involves it releasing a continuous wave of ice from its body. Opponents caught in the blast will take moderate damage and be temporarily frozen, as well as be launched towards the top of the screen.

Clouds gather, the barometer plunges, and fresh snow falls from the frigid air when this legendary Pokémon takes wing. Graceful and elegant, it boasts long tail feathers that flap in the wind and are lovely to behold. As would be expected, its combat moves are based on its cold nature; they include Ice Beam and Blizzard.
