Big Bully is a large Bully possibly working for the Koopa Troop that appears in the games Super Mario 64, Super Mario 64 DS, and Mario Kart DS. Like their smaller counterparts, Big Bully resembles a large black sphere with yellow horns and green shoes. This creature resides in Lethal Lava Land. It resembles a large Bob-omb.

In battle, Big Bully will ram into his enemy, attempting to shove him and stick him into the lava. These attacks do not actually damage the opponent; however, if pushed into the lava, the opponent will receive massive damage and will possibly die.

Big Bully appears in Mario Kart DS.

During the events of Super Mario 64, Mario (or Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi, depending on the version) fight two Big Bullies in Lethal Lava Land. Both are keepers of a Power Star. The first one appears on a central platform in the lava level. In battle, Big Bully's thick hide prevents Mario from damaging the enemy. As such, Mario must give the Bully a taste of his own medicine and push the large monster into the lava. To defeat Big Bully, Mario should punch, kick, or stomp the Bully backwards, causing the Bully to fall into the molten rock. The lava will then cause the Bully to melt, destroying the enemy and releasing a Power Star. If he is pushed onto the sinking platform next to his own, he will try hard to return to his normal place and even stop fighting Mario.

The next time Big Bully appears in Lethal Lava Land is a little bit more difficult to discover. On a different platform, Mario must defeat three regular Bullies in combat. This is harder than it seems, as the three Bullies gang up on Mario, forcing the plumber closer to the lava. After defeating the three baddies, Big Bully will fall from the sky and immediately attack the heroic plumber. Again, Mario must push the large Bully into the lava, causing the massive Bully to melt (and release another Power Star).

Big Bully's appearance in Mario Kart DS was updated, the creature's appearance having a pair of collars on his horns. In this game, Big Bully is the first boss of Mission Mode. In this game, Yoshi would fight the metallic monster. Yoshi would have to drive through the lone Item Box and would gain Triple Mushrooms. Using the speedy shrooms, Yoshi pushed Big Bully into the surrounding water, after which the mission would be completed.

Trivia

  • In the 2000's, the Big Bully was nicknamed Pompeii by many fans due to the name Big Bully sounding too generic to some. The name is a nod to the real life city of Pompeii.
