Big Venus Fire Traps (also known as Super Venus Fire Traps) are enemies first appearing in the Tiny-Huge Island are of Super Mario 64. They reappear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and are enlarged Venus Fire Traps that act exactly like their normal counterparts with one difference; Big Venus Fire Traps are larger and their fireballs are comparatively larger as well.
They can be defeated by shooting three fireballs at them or by using an Invincibility Star. Only two are found only in World 2-3. One reappears in New Super Mario Bros. 2, in World 5-6. Instead of shooting large Fireballs, they shoot out normal sized ones as their smaller counterparts.
After an absence in New Super Mario Bros. U they reappear in its expansion pack New Super Luigi U in Piranhas in the Dark, Slippery Rope Ladders, Light-Up-Lift Tower, and Rising Piranhas. Big Venus Fire Traps also appear in Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Mario Maker 2. They can produced by applying a Super Mushroom to a Venus Fire Trap. Like New Super Mario Bros. 2, the shoot normal sized fireballs this time.
