Species origin | Urchin |
Ground Urchins (also known as Red Urchins or Fire Urchins) are a red furry sub-species of the Urchin that appears in Super Mario Galaxy. They behave almost identically to Urchins with the only difference being that they are found on land and in lava areas (specifically in the Freezeflame Galaxy). They are also more aggressive than a standard Urchin and are faster too. Their main attack consists of trying to roll into Mario (or Luigi). They can be defeated by using a Fire Flower on them or by tricking them into falling into the lava. They release 6 Star Bits upon defeat. One Ground Urchin can also be seen in the Boo Box in the Deep Dark Galaxy.
Trivia
- Ground Urchins are among the few enemies from Super Mario Galaxy to not return in it's sequel.
