A Puffer Fish[1] is an enemy that appears in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are very rare enemies and appear in underwater coves. They mainly attack by inflating and charging at Mario (or Luigi) which then leads to them self-destructing. They can be found either hiding in Treasure Chests or they appear out of nowhere and attack. They disappear after a while
History
Super Mario Galaxy
In Super Mario Galaxy, only two Puffer Fish make an appearance, specifically in the Drip Drop Galaxy, hidden in underwater chests. When released, they will puff up and start swimming at a fast pace towards Mario, but only move in a straight line. After a short period, they disappear. Their tail fins resemble balloon nozzles in this game.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Puffer Fish reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Like in the predecessor, they are very rare, and will even disappear a short time after being encountered. They only appear once in Cosmic Cove Galaxy. In the underwater tunnel that acts as the border between the main area and the Twin Waterfall section. It is referred to as a Porcupuffer in the Prima Games guide.[2]
