Species origin Gringill

Mega Gringills are a sub-species of Gringill that appear in Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Mario 3D All Stars. They are larger and slower versions of Gringills.

The large Gringills appear with the standard-sized Gringills in several Galaxies (usually near them or on an opposite side of them. They are lavender in colour, have two feelers on their lower jaws, and are found only in caves. They make a straining noise when coming out of their holes, and unlike a standard Gringill give a 1-Up Mushroom when defeated. These huge eels only appear in the Beach Bowl Galaxy, Sea Slide Galaxy, and Deep Dark Galaxy.

They reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 however this time, they are only found in the Starshine Beach Galaxy guarding a Comet Medal.
