The Secret Aquarium is one of three secret courses to appear in Super Mario 64 and its remake, where Mario collects eight Red Coins to retrieve a Power Star floating amidst a large flooded room. It is a cube-shaped room that has large windows on the walls, each stained a different color. The Secret Aquarium is accessed via one of two hidden alcoves in the wall adjacent to the Jolly Roger Bay painting. Though laden with oxygen-replenishing Yellow Coins, there is no surface to the aquarium, and it is actually suspended in the sky, high above the clouds. It is thus similar to the Big House in the Sky from the Rainbow Ride course. While not physically changed in Super Mario 64 DS, the course features music absent from the original game: the full percussion version of the Dire, Dire Docks theme.
Trivia
- The sky areas resemble certain areas (sky themes) of the game, the purple sky for instance resembles Bowser in the Sky's theme.
