Astro Goombas[1][2] (also called Goombeetles,[3] Robot Goombas,[4] Metallic Goombas,[5] or Octobeetles)[6] are a variant of Goomba that are only found in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel Super Mario Galaxy 2. Astro Goombas are similar to regular Goombas, but they wear protective space helmets (similar to an astronaut helmet), which prevent them from being stomped on. Astro Goombas also seem to be the Goomba equivalent of Buzzy Beetles, due to the similar name and the helmet they wear acting similar to a Buzzy Beetle's shell, as they are used to protect themselves from attacks.

Astro Goombas first appear in Super Mario Galaxy. They are mostly found in Bowser's and Bowser Jr.'s galaxies. They are also found in the Buoy Base Galaxy and the Dreadnought Galaxy.
