Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole, Paper Mario: The Origami King

The Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole is a Monty Mole shopkeeper who appears in Paper Mario: The Origami King. The Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole is similar to the Fun, Funky, and Functional Toads and Fun, Funky, and Functional Sniffits, in-which they sell accessories to Mario. The Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole looks identical to an ordinary Monty Mole. However, unlike a normal Monty Mole, the Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole carries a large brown bag with various items on their back.

The Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole can be found at the Breezy Tunnel shop found in Breezy Tunnel, alongside an ordinary Monty Mole which sells shiny items. The Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole sells both the Treasure Alert and Silver Time Plus. When Mario buys either item, the Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole thanks Mario for his shopping, just like the other shopkeepers found in the game.

The Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole also makes a brief cameo during the final cutscene of the game, where they can be seen chatting with a Fun, Funky, and Functional Toad and a Fun, Funky, and Functional Sniffit during the Origami Festival.

Trivia

  • Outside of the final cutscene, the Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole are the only type of Fun, Funky, and Functional shopkeeper to only appear once, as the Toad and Sniffit ones appear multiple times throughout the game.
  • In the files of Paper Mario: The Origami King, there are walking animations for the Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole, suggesting that they would have moved around somewhere at one point during development. However, these animations go unused as the Fun, Funky, and Functional Monty Mole stands in one place during both of their appearances in the game.
