Welcome to Yoshi Tower! is the bonus level of World 1 in Yoshi's Island DS, and to most, was the first level in which Black Yoshi appeared. The goal is to get to the top of the tower, avoiding obstacles, before the lava catches up to the Black Yoshi. This level is incredibly hard.

Layout

The level starts in a tower with rising lava and enemies, with a Stork Stop nearby. Yoshi will need to avoid some more enemies and obstacles, and will soon reach an area with number platforms and even more enemies. Soon, after heaps of obstacles, Yoshi can enter a door in an area with spikes and Zeus Guys to get outside to the GOAL! Ring.

Trivia

  • The Shy Guys in the background of the level perform similar actions to the ones in the Castle of Big Guy the Stilted.
  • This level is often cited as one of the examples of so-called "Platform Hell", which is essentially an even harder version of "Nintendo Hard", meant to punish and frustrate the player. A well known example of this genre is the Super Mario World hack "Kaizo Mario World".

Shy Guys in the Background

  • The Shy Guys in the background seem as though they are doing the following:
    • Learning how to use the Stilts
    • Talking to each other.
    • Climbing ladders (it appears that this is the way they travel around the castle).
    • Washing their wet clothes.
    • Studying on how Yoshi attacks and who he is.
    • Growing Piranha Plants.
    • Sleeping.
      • All these activities are also performed in the Castle of Big Guy the Stilted.
